The Talyllyn Railway

The Talyllyn Railway is the worlds first preserved railway, and a must-have place to visit on your trip to Tywyn. Originally built in 1866 for carrying slate from Abergynolwyn to Tywyn, it runs for 7.25 miles through beautiful and unspoilt countryside – passing through the delightful Dolgoch Falls along the way. And with the excellent forest walks at Nant Gwernol, it’s a great family day out.

Castell y Bere

It may be remote, but Castell y Bere a magnet for all castle lovers. Strung along a jagged rocky outcrop in the Dysynni Valley at the foot of the mighty Cader Idris, Castell y Bere is especially good at evoking the spirit and atmosphere of Wales’s native castles.

Nant Gwernol Forest and Waterfall Walk

The stunning ancient woodland of Nant Gwernol offers amazing views and diverse habitats, with rare wildlife.

Follow the established riverside footpath through Coed Nant Gwernol for a beautiful scenic walk which passes flowing streams, tumbling waterfalls and deep pools.
