The Aberdyfi Kite Festival fills the wide sands of Aberdyfi beach with colour for a weekend each summer, as kite flyers and families gather to send everything from simple diamonds to giant display kites soaring over the Dyfi estuary. With the mountains behind and the sea in front, it is a brilliant free spectacle for all ages, and a great excuse for a day on one of the area’s best beaches.
Alongside the flying there are usually kite-making workshops where children and grown-ups alike can build their own to take home, all wrapped up in the easy-going feel of a proper community day out.
