Spanning over 5 miles of pristine coastline from Tywyn in the north, to the harbour at Aberdyfi in the south, Tywyn has long golden sandy beaches which is perfect for picnics, long strolls and playing in the sea!
The recently opened Wales Coastal Path passes through Tywyn, and there are some fabulous walks around Tywyn taking in the views of Cardigan Bay along with Snowdonia and the Cambrian Mountains to the south. There are plenty of parking areas along Tywyn promenade, and facilities include ice-cream shops, public toilets, a small children’s paddling pool and a recreation ground with tennis courts, and Victorian Slipway Pub.
Tywyn Beach Surfing
Tywyn beach is a good surf beach and the best conditions occur either side of the high tide. South of the slipway (towards Aberdyfi) is the most popular area and it’s a good beach for beginners. The waters around Tywyn are also popular with Cardigan Bay’s populations of harbour porpoises and bottlenose dolphins, so If you keep your eyes peeled when on Tywyn Beach, you may even be lucky enough to spot some swimming through the bay!
Tywyn’s seaside credentials include a promenade and paddling pool. There’s easy access to the beach and plentiful parking, both free and pay-and-display.
Is Tywyn Beach Dog friendly?
Like many beaches during the summer, Tywyn Beach has a well-signed section in front of the promenade which is off-limits to dog between 1st April and 30th September. However there is a fantastic stretch of beach to either side where dogs are allowed all year round.
